Welcome to Knewton International School
Great schools can change lives, and our responsibility as a great school stretches beyond academic enrichment to nurturing and empowering students to become the best they can be.
Our aim is to make learning a buzzing, joyful and lifelong experience. Knewton International School is proud to follow the highest standards of the English educational system, following the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) to International General Certificate of Secondary Education (iGCSE).
Student Wellbeing
We focus on the thing that matters most – your child’s welfare. Our young people flourish because they are treated with care, kindness and respect. We take the time to nurture positive mental health, good physical health and the social wellbeing of each young person in our care.
We take full precautionary measures to ensure the best hygiene standards throughout the campus. We want our students to feel happy and safe so they can concentrate fully on learning.
All teachers take responsibility for wellbeing through the tutor group and Personal Social Health and Education (PSHE) programmes. We provide a wide range of opportunities for students to mix together across schools and year groups, with older pupils acting as buddies for the younger children.
Knewton Learning
We’re focused on supporting our students to get better. Students thrive with our vibrant classrooms, caring support and innovative teaching methods.
We’re agile in our teaching and learning and the whole campus has adapted to digital learning methods to ensure learning never has to stop. We’re focused on delivering a rich, interactive and adaptive experience.
Our team of well qualified and motivated staff have high expectations of themselves and the students. All of our teachers, no matter how many years’ experience they may possess, are on a continuous professional development pathway so our students benefit from the most up to date learning methods.

Testimonials
We are an Australian family living in Miri and we wanted our children to continue their education following the International Primary curriculum. I find the students here are happy, respectful and friendly. The school has an active PTA that works to build a community not just for the kids, but for the whole family.

My child has improved significantly in her reading, writing and communication skills, thanks to the dedication and commitments from her teachers. The school is a wonderful place and definitely a great place for learning.
- Anthony Chin (Parent)
We have noticed enormous growth within our children, mentally and emotionally. The children are excited to go to school in the mornings and as parents we have never looked back. We are proud to be part of the school’s family.
- Michelle Oosthuizen (Parent)
My children are more confident, assertive and able to voice their opinions freely, which they would not have been able to do in Japan. There are a lot of opportunities in this school and students are encouraged to take challenges.
- Putri Kartikawati (Parent)

The temporary measure of distance learning is a new experience for me - it’s my first time trying to get work done through online classes and assignments. I've learned the importance of time management, I’m able to manage and organise my schedule effectively and accomplishing what’s more important first.
- Xin Ying (Year 10)
The temporary distance learning programme has been very interesting; it has taught me to manage my time well and how to set a good daily routine at home. It has really helped me with my organisational skills and how to stay in control under stress.
- Karin Ong (Year 8)
Distance learning has been a great opportunity to learn good time management skills. I like being able to work at my own pace while still being able to get all the help I need from teachers and peers. Overall, the experience has been very fun.
- Sofi Lea (Year 9)
I love the fact that I get to use so many of the school's great facilities - the auditorium, swimming pool, music rooms, art rooms and all the different CCAs and events that we can participate in.
