Nursery (ages 3 – 4) and Reception (ages 4 – 5)




In our Early Years Department we believe we have created a secure, rich and stimulating learning environment in which children feel supported and valued. We believe that a solid start to a child’s learning journey is necessary to help them to become lifelong learners. We have well-equipped indoor and outdoor areas offering children the opportunity to both move around and learn through exploration. We believe that our Early Years children should have opportunities to follow their interests and take ownership of their learning.




The role of our Early Years staff in this type of learning environment is to support the child in their learning, providing them with a rich variety of activities for them to explore and discover. Our low staff : child ratio enables us to do this. Learning in Early Years is through a mixture of teacher led learning activities, teacher-enhanced learning activities and child-initiated play activities. We believe that it is important for children to learn how to play and learn with others – staff help model positive relationships in an environment where children can develop high levels of self-esteem and positive relationships with their peers. We also provide many opportunities for children to develop early reading, writing and number skills – both formally and as part of their continuous learning through play. We follow the Early Years Programme from The International Primary Curriculum.

Children entering Early Years can enter nursery the term after their third birthday as long as they are toilet trained. If you have a child who is already 3 or who will be 3 before the start of the third term of our academic year, kindly contact our Admissions Team.
